Swordfish- opening scene.
Sword fish- not a metaphor or any phrase we recognise immediately. Therefore it’s intriguing- what is it referring to?
· Interference effect- terrorist activity/ technology based. Intentional Hacking – imperfect.
· Monochrome screen- often used in banks / number crunching and computer code.
· Serif font- seen in formal texts like newspapers.
· White on black- W.O.B
· Orchestral score – suspense /rising tension
· Anticipatory quivering strings
· Green filter
· Glints of metal and glass, what else glints mirrors, water, trophies, silver services, candlesticks.
· Foreground and background, focus pulls- in and out of focus could indicate he is not to be trusted, and portrays his character to be ambiguous.
· Designer stubble
· Specialist props- sliver cigar sniper lighter + cigar indicating wealth and prosperity. (detonator?? Cluster bomb)
· Antagonists monologue is controlled, low masculine cultural voice- how would you describe accent? (Crisp clipped tones)
· Over the shoulder shots- men in suits connoting authority establishment – faceless threats.
· Armed men following moves of antagonist
· Bright sunlight- nothing to hide anymore –contrast blinking disorientation.
· Sniper scope site- cross hair- special effects.
This was used for the collection of ideas, for types of shots that could be effective for our thriller. introduction.
