Xx after effects and story board ideas for Nibiru xX

AFTER EFFECTS

Inspired by “CONTACT”, “THE THING” and “THE HAPPENING”

· Plain black screen. Text fades in and out (shoe line pictures presents) ambient deep rumbling and steady tick of balls.

· A desk (CU on Newtons balls on desk moving steadily) Sound is ticking of balls.

· Plain black screen. Text fades in and out. A black hole production. Sound: ticking of balls wind, deep rumble like distant thunder.

· Black background with Newton’s balls in background, action is a steady shot of a Metronome. Wide shot with metronome in bottom right corner. Sound is a click, click of a metronome, and spotlight on metronome.

· Newtons balls in left hand corner of black frame. Film’s stylised titles fade in and out. “TITLE” –stylised font. Sound: Ticking of balls, wind, and deep rumble like distant thunder. News report on crackly radio. Spotlight.

· On desk- steady tick back and forth of end balls. Birds eye view of balls. Sound: ticking, the slow motion sound gets deeper.
· On desk- suddenly there is a collision and the balls are out of time and off the beat. (CU from front)

· BCU of women’s bobbing head as she runs along panicking. Handheld Steadicam (in front of blue screen?) with hardness on front of actor. Sound: explosion and panicking.

· Establishing shots of cartoon city (?). (this may or may not look good whilst editing)

· Handheld Steadicam of side of woman’s head as she runs along panicking (in front of blue screen?)

· Weird noises and sounds of explosions
· Camera zooms into point woman’s head
· Goes into blood and single cell
· Goes to the atom
· Zoom in past particles separating
· They turn into planets
· Revolves around one planet and then zooms past meteorite storm crashing into planets

· Zooms past Clocks (what kind?) in the darkness – their hands are going backwards

· Titles coming in – lined up rocks, odd pieces of debris
· Trying to get the idea of a virus spreading, so showing the spreading of something, meteorites landing planets

· Planets change shape- Planet A (expands and morphs.) into different coloured planets.

· Planet A merges with planet B to make new planet.
· TITLES-
· Zooming past planets, rocks and stars and moons.
· Radio signals scrambling. Gradually hear from different time periods.
· Go past 9- recognizable planets of our universe.
· Radio sounds louder- crescendo.
· Zooming to planet earth.
· Getting closer and closer
· W.S meteorite crashing to earth- big explosion of dust –black.
· Black out

Xx planning- treatments xX

This was one of the first planning things we did for our thrillers, known as treatments.

The purpose of this was to experiment with the different types of ideas that could occur in our thrillers. The ideas created played no part in our end thriller however gave us an idea of how ideas might come together and be created.

Two examples that I created are:

Changelings:

Horror thriller: A car breaks down and inside is a mother with a baby, lurking behind a tree is a monster also known as a changeling. The story unfolds when he attacks the car and transforms into the baby in the back seat whilet the mother is outside on the phone. The story carries to the changeling taeking over other humans and soon taking over the world, with the help of his own kind.

Nibiru: (our main idea)
Sci- Fi echo horror thriller:
The end of the world has occurred.
There is a girl who is running from a virus that has come to earth via a planet in the universe.
It is a disease that is spreading through the blood cells of a running girl, eating away at her insides and cells. There are Newton’s balls and a Metronome ticking during this sequence portraying the passage in time, this becomes out of sync demonstrating a change to the atmosphere. The film also has a flash back to a point of view shot created on adobe after effects of the virus landing on planet earth with a big bang.

Xx making of the burns/scars for filming xX

This youtube video, is similar to how my burn/scars were created in the opening sequence. Such as the large scar on my neck. The reasoning behind its size is because during editing and after effects we will import a zoom into the neck, which will then go into the edited red blood cells. The burns and prosthetics took time to make and different practise runs needed to be shot, to be sure for the real shoot day however overall I was very pleased with the result.

These are scanned in images of my story board for Nibiru, the purpose behind these, was to have a step by step instuction of what events will occur during our filming, so that there is structure when editting and filiming in order to reduce stress for the future when it comes too putting the film together.

Xx edditing our work xX

Once we had finished filming our material, the task now came of editing with real life footage and after effects. The way the blood cells alone were created was by finding a still life image on google first, and then began to add filters adding to a more realistic effect as well as turning them so that there was some motiojn involved. This aprt of the editing comes straight at the beginning, juts after the zoom into the neck.

Now that this has been completed the i am pleased with the outcome so far, however, one main disadvantage, is that it is only 18 seconds long and the thriller must be 2 minutes in total. Therefore this has too be changed and extended, as having the rest of the thriller as just after effects may be a bit tidies and difficult to maintain the thriller aspect.

We are now working on after effects as a group such as the creation of the moving planets, so far this has been a challenging task, however once taught the after effects, all the pieces began too fit together, the hardest parts so far having been adding camera zooms as well as rotating the angles to create distortion for the audience .
Soon, we will be going onto insert titles into the filming, through the stars merging together as well as adding explosions and sounds to add to the suspence, however this will not be until a later stage.
